  • Posted: 10/04/08, Annual Lecture & Prize-Giving Ceremony - We will be holding our annual lecture & prize-giving ceremony on Thursday May 1st 2008. This year our guest presenter is Ms Jane Houzer, with a presentation entitled: 'Business and Management Education in Transition'. There will also be a prize giving ceremony for the graduating students of 06/07. For further details please see our PDF iconflyer.

  • Posted: 15/10/07, Rebecca Stephens Lecture - We are hosting an event on the 1st of November featuring a talk by Rebecca Stephens MBE. The event is organised by Chartered Management Institute Central & Westminster and City branches, and a limited number of free places has been made available to Friends of the Faculty, see Past Events (below) for further information.

  • Posted: 17/05/07, London Knowledge Innovation Centre Event (07/06/07) - The >>London Knowledge Innovation Centre (LKIC) are holding an event, "How to turn an idea into a winning business?" See Past Events (below) for further information.
  • Posted: 23/03/07, Chris Clare lecture & prize giving (03/05/07) - The Executive Dean to the Faculty of BCIM, Professor Chris Clare, will be giving a lecture entitled "Seeing The Wood For The Trees: The Development Of Business Information Systems". There will also be a prize giving ceremony for the graduating students of 05/06. See Past Events (below) for further information.

Friends will receive, twice a year, an e-newsletter highlighting our achievements and planned activities, and inviting them to attend major functions. You can sign up on the >>registration page.

If you are a BCIM Alumnus please update your details with the >>LSBU Association, the main point of contact for all alumni who want to stay in touch with the University, their Faculty and fellow alumni. As a member of the Association, you can take advantage of a wide range of free >>benefits and services available at the University. LSBU Alumni Society or if you are already registered please consider updating your profile.

  • 1st November 2007 We hosted an event on the 1st of November featuring a talk by Rebecca Stephens MBE. The event was organised by Chartered Management Institute Central & Westminster and City branches.
  • 07th June 2007 The >>London Knowledge Innovation Centre (LKIC) hold an event, "How to turn an idea into a winning business?" Please see the PDF iconPDF for further details.
  • 23rd-27th April 2007 World Wide Week - Multicultural Event, various events celebrating student's diversity and integration. The week will be made up of a combination of daily activities that will comprise of academic, cultural and leisure events that will be organised focusing on different regions per day.
  • 3rd May 2007 Prize giving and lecture held onThursday May 3rd 2007 at 6pm in the Abbey Conference Centre. The Executive Dean to the Faculty of BCIM, Professor Chris Clare, gave a lecture entitled "Seeing The Wood For The Trees: The Development Of Business Information Systems" there was also be a prize giving ceremony for the graduating students of 05/06.   • 22nd March 2007 Chartered Management Institute Branch Event, 'Executive Coaching & Leadership', held by CMI 'Central and Westminster Branch'.   • 1st March 2007 Professor Bruce Lloyd gave a presentation to the Friends of the Faculty on 1st March 2007 on Leadership and Wisdom. See PDF iconleadership invitation for details.
  • 27th of April 2006 Professor Bruce Lloyd gave a Professorial Lecture on his personal reflections of strategic management. The event started at 6.00 with prize giving and light refreshments after Bruces lecture. For futher information and photographs please see >>Bruce Lloyd's lecture.
  • 10th March 2005 Dr Byron Sharp gave lecture entilited the "Ehrenberg Centre School" which marked the naming in the honour of the retiring Founder, Professor Andrew Ehrenberg. For futher information and photographs please see >>Ehrenberg Centre launch.

6. About Friends of the Faculty

The Friends of the Faculty organisation will be the main focal point of the Faculty's communication with a range of supportive groups who have, or who have had, dealings with our students and staff. These groups will include:
  • Alumni (selected PDF iconprofiles of our graduates)
  • Business and professional association contacts
  • Work placement employers
  • Consultancy and short-course customers
  • Home and international university and college partners.

Its main aims are:

  • To keep Friends informed of our major current activities
  • To foster links with business and professional contacts to gain advice on portfolio and course development, and work placement opportunities.
  • To provide networking opportunities for both Alumni and present students through guest lectures, seminars and other events.
  • To encourage guest lectures for our students from expert practitioners.
  • To utilise more fully the diversity of our contacts as part of the Faculty plan to promote equality and diversity.

About the Faculty

The >>BCIM Faculty was formed in 2003 through a merger of the former Schools of Business and Computing. We have a commitment to widening opportunities for people to participate in higher education, and we currently bring together students of over 120 nationalities.
