Results of Collaborative R & D Competition: Future energy management for buildings

The Technology Strategy Board has announced ten winning projects, set to receive overall funding of £4 million to stimulate innovations in energy management of existing buildings. Dr. Sandra Dudley from the BiMEC group is the Academic Lead (PL) on the awarded grant “Energy Management & Analysis Exploiting Existing BMS Infrastructure & Data” investigating data mining techniques for large data systems in Building Management systems to automatically understand in-house system inefficiencies within buildings. Once inefficiencies are identified automated responses will be provided that can engage building users to fix problems. This system will also review automated problem solving. Dr Mikdam Turkey is now the resident Researcher working with Dr Dudley on this project.
