Research

The Faculty has a strong culture of research in selective areas of engineering, applied science and the built environment. We are one of the most successful post 1992 universities for research and this is reflected in our excellent performance in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). From the assessment we are now ranked as one of the nation's Top 20 universities.

Our work is highly interdisciplinary and collaborative, with strong national and international links

We have a strong record of generating external income from a wide range of sources including Research Councils, the European Union, industry, government and charities. Our work is highly interdisciplinary and collaborative, with strong national and international links. The applied nature of our research reflects our strong links with industry and the leading contribution we make to the University's position as the foremost provider of Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) in London and one of the nation's leaders.

We have an extensive research infrastructure including a new £2.8M Centre for Renewable and Efficient Energy in Buildings (CEREB) which will start operating later this year.
