Andrew Jones has over 20 years' experience in local economic development, gathered through Training and Enterprise Councils, central government, and a number of commercial consultancies. He has worked with Lepu as an associate researcher since 1998 before becoming director in 2011. Initially a labour market specialist, his expertise has widened to include urban regeneration, sustainability, and aspects of local governance

Ruth Richards

Ruth Richards

Subject Leader, Planning and Housing at LSBU. A former Director of Planning Aid for London, and a senior advisor for the Royal Town Planning Institute. Ruth is a member of the Editorial Board of Local Economy.

Lynn Vickery

Lynn joined LSBU in 2001 with a background as a practitioner in housing, support and care management within the housing association sector, interim chief executive work plus consultancy within a private sector learning and development company. Since then Lynn has participated in a number of research programmes and consultancy in the field of housing and regeneration. In 2008-10 Lynn was the Director of LEPU followed by a year developing the London Regional Centre of Expertise for Education for Sustainable Development, an initiative of the United Nations University, based on the UN Millennium Development Goals. Currently Lynn is a senior lecturer in housing studies at London South Bank University, joint Editor of the journal Housing Care and Support, Chair of a London based housing association and on the board of the journal Local Economy. Lynn is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

David Walburn - European Editor, Local Economy

David is a Visiting Professor at London South Bank University and lectures at the Institut d’Administration des Enterprises at the Jean Moulin University in Lyon. He is a former Chief Executive of Greater London Enterprise and the past President of the European Association of development Agencies (EURADA). He is the Chair of Capital Enterprise, the umbrella organisation for London’s enterprise agencies, and is a member of the Board of Creative Sheffield. He is also a member of Strategic Advisory Board of the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) for the European Commission.

Deian Hopkin

Professor Sir Deian Hopkin - Chair

Emeritus professor at LSBU and the University of East London, and former VC of London South Bank University. Deian is a Trustee of the Institute of Historical Research and Vice Chair of the Council for Assisting Refugee Academics.  He is a patron or trustee of several organisations, serves on a number of public boards, and is Chairman-Emeritus of the University Centre, Jersey.

M Morad

Professor Munir (Munro) Morad graduated from the University of London in 1986 with a PhD in Land Evaluation, and has worked in the UK (Wales, Kingston, London South Bank) and New Zealand (Waikato). His teaching and research portfolios span the meeting points between environmental planning and community development, land /property management information systems, and knowledge management. Professor Morad is a Chartered Surveyor (Environment; Planning and Development); Vice Chair of the Professional Land Reform Group (UK); a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy; and a Member of the Royal Society of New Zealand. He is also the Joint Editor of Local Economy (Sage journals).

Greg Clark

Greg is a Visiting Professor at London South Bank University and Cass Business School. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Urban Land Institute for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He has played a vital part in the development of the London/New York Dialogues, and is the author of the Background Report to the project.

Paul is a Visiting Fellow of LEPU. He has worked in social policy, labour market analysis, skills and learning and welfare to work since 1985. Paul led New Deal for Communities and NRF evaluations and worked for the LSC, RDAs, and a wide range of local authorities.

Baron Harris of Haringey is a Visiting Professor at LEPU.  Labour Peer, and has served as Chair of All Party Group on Policing; Former Chair, Association of London Government and Metropolitan Police Authority; served as Vice President, Local Government Association; Director, Toby Harris Associates.

Patrick McVeigh

Patrick Mcveigh

Patrick McVeigh is a visiting fellow at the Local Economy Policy Unit and the Economic Development Programme Director at the consultancy Shared Intelligence. Patrick has over 15 years economic development experience in both the public and private sectors. Prior to moving into consultancy Patrick spent five years working with the London Development Agency, where he held several strategic management posts, including that of Head of Evidence and Evaluation and Director of Strategy and Corporate Planning. Patrick is a Chartered Town Planner and a member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

Previously he was Head of Policy Research at the Work Foundation (formerly the Industrial Society).
