The Role- The newly created Technical Support Services Department is a large university wide operation that provides bespoke technical support to the Academic Schools, the broader University and its partners.

The professional team of technical staff account for a wide and diverse range of disciplines including Applied Sciences, Arts and Creative Industries, Built Environment and Architecture, Health and social care and Engineering. The department is manily sited on the Southwark Campus but also has satellite facilities at Havering campus.

London Southbank University is now looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic technician to be responsible for the day to day planning, operation, organisation and effective management of the Virtual Engineering Suite. This is an exciting opportunity in a growing area with opportunities to work with new and emerging technologies and to collaborate with both technical and academic colleauges to maintain and develop the currency of these facilities.

About the Virtual Engineering Suite- To support and enhance its broad based portfolio of degree programmes in Engineering, Science and Creative Technologies the University has recently commissioned a state of the art £1.4 million Virtual Engineering suite.

The facility provides access to a wide range of industrially recognised engineering and design applications including offerings from Siemens, Autodesk and ANSYS in a well-equipped project based learning lab. Central to the facility is a high specification additive manufacturing facility that incorporates fused deposition modelling (FDM), multi-material 3D printing technologies and a prototypes and test the viability of their designs. To further enhance the learning experience the facility is home to a high specification 50 seat virtual reality auditorium which provides 4 users with the opportunity to simultaneously experience large scale projects in fully immersive interactive environments.
