Borough Group (Third Annual Exhibition)

  • Exhibition held at Arcade Gallery, London. This was the 6th Borough Group exhibition.
 

Borough Polytechnic Annual Report

  • Date: 1949-1950
  • Credit: held at the London South Bank University Archive Centre
  • A Department of Arts and Crafts Report for the Borough Polytechnic Institute  (now London South Bank University). The report lists David Bomberg as a part-time member of staff in the department. When Bomberg joined in 1945, there were only 2 full-time and 13 part-time teachers. The department grew substantially in the late 1940s and at its height employed 5 full-time and 31 part-time members of staff.

Dorothy Mead, Letter against Perspective (1)

  • First page of the letter sent by Dorothy Mead to Sir William Coldstream defending her decision not to take the examinations on perspective at the Slade. Her failure to take the exams meant that she left the Slade without a diploma.

The London Group Exhibition, 1975

  • In the year that Dorothy Mead died, The London Group’s annual exhibition included a special display of 10 of her paintings, selected by friend and Borough Group colleague, Dennis Creffield. Artist Neville Boden, then President of The London Group, paid tribute to Mead in the introduction to the catalogue.
