Film Screening & Late Opening for South London Art Map’s (SLAM) ‘Last Fridays’

Friday 25 July 2014

Late opening: 6 – 8pm

Film Screening: 6.30pm (94 minutes)

To mark the close of our current exhibition, Researching the Archive: Five Artists from the Borough, the gallery opened late to coincide with South London Art Map’s July ‘Last Fridays’. As well as drinks and a last chance to see this research-focused show, we held a special screening of British director Ken Loach’s feature-length documentary ‘The Spirit of ’45′ (2013). This BIFA nominated film begins with this pivotal year in British history and the radical changes spurred by the spirit of unity of the post-war years. A narrative is woven through materials and research found in regional and national archives, sound recordings and contemporary interviews.

‘SLAM Fridays’ is a monthly late-night opening of galleries in south London. For more details and information on other galleries within walking distance of Borough Road Gallery taking part, visit the SLAM website.
