Miles Richmond: The Colour of Energy

For this talk, Andrea Gates will discuss Miles Richmond’s Millennium Commission mural, which is sited in the London Road Building foyer, at London South Bank University. Gates will elucidate upon Richmond’s work and technique, the development of which culminates in this mural: one of the highlights of his career.
Andrea Gates is Director and Archivist at Messum’s Fine Art. She has been researching the work of Miles Richmond for two years, in preparation for Messum’s summer show of Richmond’s work (Messum’s Fine Art, London, 21 May-29 June 2014). Along with the catalogue produced for the show, this will be one of the first opportunities to hear about Gates’s research, with an emphasis on Miles Richmond and London South Bank University. This talk is timed to coincide both with Messum’s exhibition, and Borough Road Gallery’s research-focused exhibition which includes works by, and recording of interviews with, Richmond.
